The ETS (Electric Train Service) is KTMB’s intercity rail service connecting major towns and cities along the West Coast of Peninsular Malaysia. The ETS network currently extends from Padang Besar in Perlis to JB Sentral in Johor, providing convenient north–south rail connections across Malaysia.
Major stations along the ETS network include Padang Besar, Alor Setar, Butterworth, Taiping, Ipoh, KL Sentral, Seremban, Gemas, Kluang and JB Sentral.
Popular ETS Routes
Some of the most popular ETS journeys connect KL Sentral with Ipoh, Taiping, Butterworth and Padang Besar. With ETS services now extending further south, passengers can also travel between Kuala Lumpur and destinations in Johor. ETS trains can reach speeds of up to 140 km/h, making ETS a convenient option for intercity travel without driving or flying.
ETS Services
Different ETS trains have different stopping patterns and journey times. Current services include ETS Express, Platinum and Gold, with other service categories operating where scheduled. Faster services generally make fewer stops, while other trains serve more intermediate stations. The available service depends on your route and departure time.
Check Your Route Before Travelling
Not every ETS train travels the full Padang Besar–JB Sentral route or stops at every station. Some services operate only between selected destinations.
